The Golden History Museum has been open since 1938. It was founded with financial assistance from the WPA. The museum’s collection was initially housed in the North School on Washington Avenue. The Golden History Museum hosts an annual fundraiser called Black & White Night, which takes its name from the museum’s online historic photo collection. The Golden History Museum also has a Southwest Gallery that is home to an interactive timeline that traces local history. The museum also offers rides in a working roundhouse. There are more than 100 steam locomotives, cabooses, and passenger cars. You can even take a 20-minute train ride in an historic passenger car.
